Obedience

At SRCC you start with either a Puppy or Terrible Teens class for foundationals skills. As you move through the obedience classes, distractions and durations will increase. Once you learn how to communicate with your dog then you can move on to manners based and sport classes. Our instructors will be able to help you with problems as they arise as your puppy grows and matures into an adult. Jumping back into obedience classes as your dog developes will only reinforce your bond and ability to move through the world in polite harmony with your dog.

AKC Star Puppy

7 Weeks Class – Cost $175
8 Weeks - 5 Months
Enroll your puppy in our AKC STAR Puppy class for a great start! Learn basic commands, leash walking, and puppy socialization. Introduce your pup to new experiences and earn the AKC Star Puppy Certificate. For more info, visit www.akc.org. Classes for pups aged 2 to 5 months. Must attend 6 classes to qualify for the AKC Star Puppy Test.

Intermediate Puppy

6 Weeks Class – Cost $165
Up to 7 Months
This class enhances pup response to cues on/off leash, emphasizing focus amidst distractions. It prepares puppies for sport classes, catering to individual pup/handler teams. Encouraging good choices, it helps achieve desired behavior both on/off leash. Instructors love it! For pups under 8 months, following AKC Star Puppy and before Terrible Teens class.

SRCC Puppy

6 Weeks Class – Cost $165
8 Weeks - 5 Months
The SRCC Puppy class offers the same exposure as the ALC Star Puppy Class, minus the final exam. Our apprentice trainers conduct the class with the necessary teaching skills, although they lack the required AKC certification hours for your puppy.

Terrible Teens

6 Weeks Class – Cost $165
6 Months and Up
Teenagers across species are challenging. Learn how to tame your wild child with this class. Relationship building exercises and creating value in yourself as it relates to your dog’s viewpoint are very important ways to get compliance. This class is appropriate for dogs 5 months to 3 years with Basic Obedience Skills.

AKC Canine Good Citizen

6 Weeks Class – Cost $185
1 Year and Up
Responsible Owners, Well-mannered dogs. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. In CGC, dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test can earn a certificate and/or the official AKC CGC title. Dogs with the CGC Title have the suffix, “CGC” after their names. Therapy

Therapy dogs are born to assist, calm, and listen to those in need. Join our class to learn the requirements, skills, and take the TDI test at SRCC for certification. Visit www.tdi-dog.org for more information.

Reactive

Any age
In this class, we'll teach your dog focus and impulse control to handle distractions. Skills are crucial for dogs. All ages welcome, as we work on duration, distance, and intensity of stimuli.

Shy/Fearful

Join our confidence-building class for dogs who struggle with environmental, social, or dog-related anxieties. Learn valuable skills to help your dog navigate and cope with stress. All ages welcome.

Kids In Charge Class

4 Weeks Class – Cost $125
6 Months and Up
In this class, kids aged 8 to 17 will learn to teach their dogs new skills, strengthen their bond, and engage in obedience, agility, tricks, and enrichment activities. Parents must observe, and dogs need appropriate collars and treats.

Manners -“APDT”

SRCC is offering the C.L.A.S.S. Curriculum designed by Association of Professional Dog Trainers. The curriculum is designed to be fun and interactive. Sharon Jonas is certified to do the testing for each level. SRCC will be working to get more of our trainers certified to test for each level. Our goal is to use this program to help you apply skills learned to help you in your everyday life with your dog. You must successfully pass each level to move on to the next. A Beginning Puppy or Terrible Teens class must be completed prior to High School Level. As you progress through the C.L.A.S.S. Curriculum levels will increase in difficulty.

Sports/Performance

SRCC offers Sport Classes to help with your dogs behaviors at home. The different sporting classes simulate your dogs instinctual needs and requires them to use their brains. This is a more effective way to tire your dog out and you begin to see a much calmer version of your dog over time. Your dog will also start to turn to you and view you as the leader since you will be the thing that gives them joy.

Beginner/Foundation

Agility is a fun and fast game of chase where the dog chases you! This beginner class will help you build foundation skills and help your dog safely and accurately execute equipment. Whether you are interested in playing safely or competing, this is a must for handlers and dogs.

Intermediate

This class is for experienced scent-trained dogs. We address any training issues and prepare for advanced hide challenges, focusing on problem-solving and enhancing skills.

Master Class

6 Weeks Class – Cost $165

The Excellent/Master Nosework class is for teams that are competing at this higher level & would like to brush up on their skills. Each week we will cover different challenges that you will come across during a search while trialing such as inaccessible hides, converging odors, blank areas, high hides, plus much more. We will also set up detective like searches to prepare those teams that are starting out or already involved in this challenging level.

This class is for experienced teams familiar with targeting tubes. It offers challenging situations to test dog and handler skills with obstacle courses. Drop In Package available with advance reservation, but limited to 6 paying students. Call 219.996.3647 for details.

Beginner/Foundation

4 Weeks Class – Cost $145

In Beginning Dock Diving, we familiarize dogs with water using platforms, floaties, and ramps. Owners must enter the pool. The goal is to train dogs to swim to the ramp independently and progress to the Intermediate Class, which focuses on dock jumping. Typically, four sessions are needed for dogs to feel comfortable advancing.

Intermediate

In the intermediate dock diving class, we help your dog gain confidence and improve their jumping technique. They can participate in competitions, trials, and leagues, and we offer various events throughout the summer. Visit our website for more information.

SRCC is part of the National K9 Dock Diving League. We compete with dock across the county to include a Championship Tournament at the end of the season.

AKC Rally Obedience

This is a progressive class, from beginner to advanced. Obedience can continue to be worked on by you and your dog but moving through a course. We will work you up to a 19 sign course. We will work on various signs per venue and establish the behaviors necessary to make you look like a star in the Rally ring! Fun class to improve obedience skills in a fun way. Build bonds and confidence while having fun with your dog!

AKC Tricks & Fitness

4 Weeks Class – Cost $125

Join our fun-filled class to strengthen your bond with your dog and explore the world of dog sports! Prioritize focus and team building through marker training and engaging games. We'll teach valuable skills and tricks that enhance cognitive abilities, body awareness, balance, and core strength. From pivoting on a disc for "heel" positions to shaping confidence on various objects, we'll cover it all. Additionally, we introduce cavaletti work, fitness exercises, and motivational games like the Ready Game and Recall to Heel. Enjoy mat work, off-switch games, Whiplash Turns, and more! Basic Obedience Skills required.

Shed Antler Class

This class will teach the foundation skills needed for finding Shed Antlers and bringing them back to handler.

Junior Handler Agility

Like our Kids in Charge Class, we are offering beginner level agility for kids that are at 8 yrs or older with dogs that are 6 months or older and have completed Puppy and or Terrible Teens Class. Jr. Handler Beginning Agility will focus on foundational agility skills. A parent or guardian is required to stay for class and dogs are to be pottied prior to entering the ring. Excessive potty accidents in the ring will result in removal from the ring for the day.

Disc Dog

Disc Dog is an exciting, fast-paced, fun sport that all dogs and people can enjoy. We will be teaching the basic game of fetch with a frisbee in a safe way! Dogs of any breed, type, size or shape can play and be successful.

Treibball

Treibball is an exciting new dog sport that began in Germany a few years ago. The goal is for the person and the dog to work as a team. The handler directs the dog from a distance around a set of balls to push them into a goal one by one. In competition the dog's work is timed. We will be teaching the foundation skills needed in Treibball

Conformation

Herding

Herding is a term referring to moving stock with your dog. We use both duck and sheep for herding classes at SRCC. You will learn the basic skills and communication ques for your dog to move stock from point a to b.

Mushing & Carting

Both Mushing and Carting involve having a dog pull something behind them. In our classes, we will teach you how to properly fit your dog with the appropriate harness for each sport and help them get accustomed to wearing it. We start with pulling tires and then progress to sleds or carts. Join us to learn the fundamentals of Mushing and Carting, and develop a strong bond with your canine companion while engaging in these exciting activities.

Day School

Program to compliment group classes. Dogs will be worked in foundation obedience to CGC skills and introduced to the sports offered on the property. They will also go on walks on the property as well as visits to the barn. (Contact us to see what Day School can and cannot accomplish)

Board & Train

One of the popular programs we offer is Board & Train. Your dog will stay with us for a period of time to start training, to work through issues, or to put some finishing touches on work you have started. Board & Train at SRCC will not only address basic obedience, but will allow exposure to all of our sports classes, 20 acres for daily walks, barns and farm animals to explore, kids, kittens and playgroups. We will also focus on impulse control in crowds of other people and dogs. While in a Board & Train program with SRCC, your dog will be worked by Day School trainers every day. SRCC Trainers will also be coming in at night for continuous training. Additionally, they will be able to attend a variety of appropriate classes which are held 7 days a week. Four 1-hour Private Lessons with a trainer at the facility will be required at the conclusion of the Board & Train period.
