Stoney Run Canine Camp Academy
At Stoney Run Canine Camp Academy we turn your passion for dogs into a fulfilling career. Our 21-week curriculum is built on the foundation of Positive Reinforcement, a proven approach that nurtures a strong bond between dogs and their owners. As part of our commitment to excellence, we have aligned our program with the prestigious Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).
Our students will have the opportunity to take the examination for Certified Professional Dog Trainers, earning a widely recognized certification.
Our Mission
Deliver a program which will produce trainers with the ability to help people understand their dog’s needs, drives and instincts, allowing them to communicate with each other and more easily move through the challenging years between puppyhood, teenagers and adulthood, all while having some fun.
Our Vision
Our vision is to produce the next generation of trainers that will utilize the sports used in the performance world as a tool for their future clients when dealing with a variety of issues, the difficult “teenage years”, dogs with anxiety, dogs with destructive behaviors to name just a few. Our program will be one of the first to expose students to actual “pet people” and the challenges of working with them.
Methods
We have created a 21-week curriculum based on Positive Reinforcement and will be using the examination for Certified Professional Dog Trainers designed by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers as a basis for assessing knowledge. In addition to classroom work, the students will be exposed to all kinds of dogs, training classes made up of “pet people” and dog sports enthusiasts.
They will come away with a realistic grasp of how to help pet people and to develop a firm grasp of how dog sports can be used by the “pet people” to keep their dogs in their homes rather than surrendering unmanageable “teenagers” to shelters.
Accreditation
Our objective is for all students to graduate with a SRCC Academy Certificate (SRCCA) and to test their knowledge through the outside agency CCPDT. After passing, students will be able to put SRCCA, CCPDT-KA in their title.
We are striving to fill a need for trainers focusing on everyday dogs in “Pet Homes.” Introduction of the sporting world to “pet” people is sure to be a game changer for families across the country; keeping dogs in homes and out of shelters.
